your guide to long lasting MAKEUP AND HAIR
Makeup Station
Wash and blow dry your hair smooth the day/night before. You can do this on the morning of your event if you are prone to oily scalp, have finer hair or you feel fresher with it washed on the day. If your hair is particularly frizzy, you might want to straighten it the day before. DO NOT straighten your hair on the day of the event. If you have very curly hair and you wish to style your hair using the look of your own natural curls, please wash it when you think is best for the look of the curls and apply your usual curl product if you feel you need it, but very sparingly. Do not overload your hair with product as it makes it very hard to work with.
The correct way to wash your hair is to shampoo TWICE or even 3 times, concentrating on the root area, rubbing your sculp very well to remove any oil and product build up. Make sure to apply the shampoo, not only on the top of your head, but also underneath. Condition your hair once, only applying the conditioner to the mid and end lengths of your hair, never on the sculp. Make sure to wash the conditioner our very well.
All clients having hair services other than a Blow Wave must have COMPLETELY DRY HAIR. If a Blow Wave is required as a style, wash your hair on the morning of the event, so it is slightly damp for when we come to style it.
Avoid doing any hair masks for at least 7 days before your event day. Do not put any product in your hair (other than light heat protection if you are blow waving it or straightening it the day before).
Leading up to your event day, use a facial scrub as this will help your makeup sit smoother. Cleanse and moisturize your face on the day of the event. Only use SPF moisturizer if you need to (not sunblock), to prevent flashback in photos and make your makeup last longer. Avoid doing any facial masks on the day of your event.
We provide a touch up kit for all makeup services, but if you have a favorite lipstick, please bring it on the day as this reduces unnecessary use of plastic pots.
We advise that you do all your garment steaming before your event day. It takes a long time and should be completely avoided once your makeup/hair is done.
PLEASE pass these instructions to everyone getting their makeup/hair done on the day.
“What a gorgeous lady inside and out. We worked together recently on a photoshoot and Karina did a fantastic job. She made the bride and bridesmaid look exactly how we envisaged and she went above and beyond. She stayed the whole day with retouches and costume adjustments!! She was a complete star and I cannot wait to work with her again in the future!! “
